Summer Internship 2024: Our internships are the perfect introduction to the world of financial services. You’ll be immersed in your chosen business area, learning from our people and taking on real business challenges.
What we look for
• You are graduating between December 2025 and June 2026
• You can be studying any degree discipline.
• You are curious to understand how a global bank adapts in a constantly evolving environment.
What you can expect
• Programme Dates: April 17th – 18th, 2024
• Join seminars and workshops, where you’ll learn about financial services, your chosen business area, the recruitment process and Barclays as an employer.
• Participate in specific breakout sessions for your business area, where you’ll gain insights of what you can expect from the Summer Internship in 2025.
• Build your understanding of the assessment process and next steps
• Connect with people from across our business, including current graduates who have already made the journey that you are starting out on.
• Attend dedicated networking sessions with senior leaders and graduates aligned to your chosen business area
• Explore the various Barclays D&I networks.
• On the 2nd day of the programme, you can be assessed for the 2025 summer internship by taking part in 2 interviews.
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Job description: Technical Summer Internship 2024 by Barclays
- Overall purpose of role
- oTo lead and be accountable for system engineering activity for one or more applications / products across the end-to-end software development lifecycle.
- oTo maintain an in-depth, end-to-end technical understanding of one or more applications / products, being recognized as the ‘go to’ contact for technical queries, live incidents and problems.
- oTo use system-specific knowledge and technical expertise to define technical strategies that provides business solutions.
- oCollaborating with Architects, PMs and developers as well as support and Infrastructure teams during and for the Design and development of the software components within the project scope, ensuring quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness in order to support the high performance delivery of change projects within RDC.
- oSupport to Design Phases through performing requirement analysis and design.
- oProvision of strong build expertise to both project development and BAU enhancement.
- proficient in either OOPS, Java, C/C++, J2EE, Oracle, Hibernate, WebLogic, Spring or mainframe Technologies
