What Makes This Special ____

As an AI Engineering Intern, you will work on projects ranging from building advanced RAG pipelines for Conversational Search, to prototyping novel LLM applications, to creating AI agents that transform the developer experience. You could experiment with multi-agent orchestration, optimize AI infrastructure, or translate cutting-edge research into production-ready features Ñ all with the goal of pushing whatÕs possible in AI-powered data governance.

What youÕll do as an intern at Atlan? __

• Get a chance to build AI-native systems and experiences Ñ leveraging AI not just as a feature, but as a core part of how our product works and how users interact with it.
• As an AI Engineering Intern, youÕll get the opportunity to work on one (or more) of these focus areas:
• AI Experimentation Ð Drive innovation through continuous experimentation with cutting-edge AI technologies. Build POCs, prototype novel AI applications, evaluate emerging tools and techniques, and translate research papers into working implementations that push the boundaries of what's possible with LLMs.
• Conversational Search & Advanced RAG Ð Build and optimize production RAG pipelines that power Conversational Search and beyond. Experiment with hybrid retrieval strategies, graph RAG, multi-modal search, and advanced techniques like HyDE, query decomposition, and self-reflective RAG to continuously improve how users discover and understand data.
• AI-Native Developer Experience Ð Pioneer Atlan's journey toward an AI-native SDLC by building specialized AI agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that transform how our engineering team worksÑfrom intelligent code generation and automated testing to context-aware debugging and documentation.
• Agentic Systems & Orchestration Ð Design and implement experimental multi-agent workflows that can autonomously handle complex tasks. Build proof-of-concepts with frameworks like CrewAI, AutoGen, and LangGraph, exploring how AI agents can collaborate to solve data governance challenges.
• AI Platform & Infrastructure Innovation Ð Develop the foundational AI platform powering both product features and internal tools. Experiment with prompt optimization techniques, build evaluation frameworks, implement observability for LLM applications, and create MCP servers that extend AI capabilities across Atlan's ecosystem.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering, few-shot learning, and chain-of-thought techniques.
• Experience with AI agent frameworks and tool-calling patterns.
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building AI-powered development tools.
• Ability to read and implement ideas from AI research papers.
• Python proficiency and experience with rapid prototyping tools.
• Understanding of LLM observability, monitoring, and evaluation frameworks.
• Experimental mindset: You love trying new things, building quick prototypes, and aren't afraid to explore uncharted territory. You can quickly evaluate if an approach is promising or a dead end.

• Onboarding Week (In-Person): Week of January 5, 2026 (or before). Location: Delhi or Bangalore (to be confirmed closer to the date).
• Covered Expenses: Atlan will cover your stay and travel expenses for the onboarding week.
• Internship Duration: 6 months (paid, full-time).
• Work Mode: Fully remote after the onboarding weekÑwork from anywhere!
• Future Opportunities: Potential to transition into a full-time role at Atlan.

__ Eligibility Criteria

• Students currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in India who can commit to full-time internship.
• Major or concentration in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• You must commit for the one-week in-person onboarding and 6 months of fully remote full-time internship.
• Demonstrate dedication to the internship.
• Show passion and drive to succeed in the tech industry (assessed via application questions and program interviews)
