Most of the time we ignore the psychological traits which make us ill, like physical illness mental illness may be fatal. Whenever we feel suffocating or uncomfortable in our chest area, heartbeat raise we think that is a heart attack. But it is not, it may be due to some sort of emotional illness. We are going to see Panic attack- Anxiety disorder, the reasons, effects on body, symptoms, and so on. Let’s get started!
What is Panic attack?
A panic attack is a sudden episode of severe fear that triggers physical motions without any real danger. It may occur 1 or 2 times in their lifetime. Treatment is quite efficient that can control panic attacks. But you are in a constant pressure situation or facing your fear, then the episodes may happen often and lead to Panic disorder.
You will reach the fear within a minute, There is no age limit since it is a psychological illness but mostly occurred above age 20(adult). Stress is the key factor, constant stress lead to episodes. Men experience two times more than women.
How you will feel if you are going through?
Your Heartbeat will raise abruptly, you think you are going to die, you can’t breathe, your fear will ring around your mind, making you crazy, makes you think you are having a heart attack. This is not a life-threatening illness, you are not facing real danger but this illness is scary and frightening
How it feels?
- You can’t breathe,
- gasp for air,
- feel like you are choking,
- Your limbs feel numb,
- Cant think rationally,
- Trembling vigorously, shaking,
- Heart pounding,
- Increase in temperature or decrease in temperature
- Chest pain, giddiness, nausea,
- Fear of dying
Why it is happening?
When you face your fear, your body will turn on “fight or flight” mode, adrenal glands produce a large amount of adrenalin. Makes us alert, made our heartbeat fasten, and pumps blood into our muscles. Breathing becomes quickens for more oxygen, blood sugar rises. Your senses sharpen
How long will it last?
Panic attacks are mostly short but vary on persons fear, episodes it takes up to a minute to 30 minutes .but in some rare cases recorded it lasts for hours to a day. Usually, the fear get to peak within 10 mins,if it didn’t get peak then it is not a panic attack that is a fear attack
Panic attacks can’t be predicted it can happen anytime anywhere even if you are sleeping, jocking, or whatever. It may occur one or more time, often or rare. It depends on your stressful situation
The exact reasons are still known ,but there are some factors may causes panic attacks.
- Major stress
- when you are highly sensitive to stress or negative emotions,
- certain changes in brain functions
The panic attack occurs suddenly without warning .but it may be triggered by a certain situation. For example, if you are chased by a tiger our body will get into flight or fight mode, we breathe fast, heartbeat rase.but the reason for a panic attack is still unknown
Seek medical guidance if you / your friend encounter these symptoms. Modern medication helps a lot in panic attacks before it becomes fatal.
