About Python

Python is an interpreted, high-level, and general-purpose programming language. Python was created in the early 1990s by Guido van Rossum, at Stichting Mathematisch Centrum (CWI) in the Netherlands. It was created as the successor of the language called ABC.

Guido is the principal author of the language. But it also includes many contributions from others. It had some of the high-level features such as next-level built-in data structures. This was combined with dynamic typing and dynamic binding. It made it very attractive for Rapid Application Development, and also as the scripting or glue language to connect the existing components together. Since the time python was created various versions of the language have been updated.

Python version 1.0 was released in Jan 1994. And the newest version released is Python 3.8.2, released on 24 Feb 2020. And between the time span of 1994 and 2020, almost 30 versions of the language have been introduced. But the two most popular ones are Python 2.7.x and Python 3.7.
