Kali Linux

Kali Linux – It is a Debian-base Linux Distribution. It aims at advanced penetration testing. It also audits the security. There are several hundred tools. It is used to learn hack.

Requirements: Installing Kali Linux

  • A flashable USB (minimum 8 GB).
  • A flashing software (Like Rufus).
  • ISO file of the Kali Linux operating system.
  • 25 GB of free hard disk space.

Steps to be followed: Installation Kali Linux

  • 1. For dual-booting any os, we need to create a separate space in our hard disk.
    • We can create a separate space using Disk partition.
      • Click Start and search “Disk Management”.

  • 2. Right-click on the drive D or E (or C) and choose “Shrink Volume” from the drop-down menu.
    • Enter the desired space for kali OS (not less than 25000MB).
      • After giving the size click on “ Shrink”.
        • You can see that a new partition will be available which will be unallocated.

  • 3.Now we need to make the bootable flash disk and for that, I am using Rufus.
    • Insert your Pendrive and launch Rufus.

  • As the initial steps are done.

Some settings in the BIOS mode:

  • Restart your computer and keep pressing the “f10“, “f11“, or “ESC” button to open BIOS mode.
    • Go to option “Boot” then disable or impair “Fastboot”.
    • As well as disable or impair the “Secure Boot”.

  • Save these settings and begin with the installation of Kali Linux.
    • Scroll down to select your bootable flash disk and press enter.

Below is the steps to be followed carefully for installation (Do not skip any of the steps):

1.From the options of Boot menu select “Graphical install” and press Enter.

9.In this step select “ Manual” for installing kali Linux at a particular space and continue.

10.Select “Guided partitioning” and make sure you see the free space which you have created through the windows disk management.

11.Select “Create a new partition” and continue.

12.Give the size of the partition and continue.

14.And choose “Beginning” and continue.

15.Double click the option “ Use as:” to go to the next screen.

16.From the options of Partition disks, select “swap area” and continue.

18.Now you need to have a close look and notice the “swap area” and the “FREE SPACE” then click continue.

19.On the next screen we will again have to set up a volume and now select “Automatically partition the free space”. This will select the entire remaining free space.

20.Choose the very first option All Files box and continue.

21.Click on the last option Finish partitioning box and continue.

22.It will ask for writing the changes in the hard drive, choose “Yes” and click continue.

23.Install the GRUB boot loader, choose “Yes” and continue.

24.Choose “Enter devise manually” for installing grub and continue.

25.Wait for few minutes for completing the grub installation.

26.Remove the installation media and click continue.

27.Finally the installation is complete and you can see both Windows 10 and Kali Linux in the boot menu.

Note: The default username for Kali Linux will be “root”.
